Carol Forbes is a Peterborough painter whose work is abstract and process-driven. Mixing fields of colour with gesture and line, she uses a variety of media to create her evocative compositions.  With no prior conception of the finished work, each mark opens up new possibilities. She is guided by intuition, a sense of adventure, and a delight in the visceral experience of working with the materials. As a work evolves, the process becomes a delicate integration of spontaneity and restraint.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Carol has lived her adult life in the Kawarthas. She studied art at the Haliburton School of Art and Design, after teaching psychology for many years at Fleming College.
